First known as the Summerside Wellness Centre when construction was underway in 2006, the facility was renamed Credit Union Place in January of 2008. This new facility replaced the historic Cahill Stadium & Steel Arena that was built in 1954 and Centennial Pool built in the 1960’s. Located steps away from the Summerside Waterfront, with a capacity of up to 6,000 for a multitude of events, Island Petroleum Energy Centre at Credit Union Place has hosted many of the greatest artists & athletes of our time. Credit Union Place is one of the most technologically advanced and versatile venues in the Maritimes and Canada. It’s home to the Summerside Western Capitals Hockey Club, Summerside Dolphins Swim Club, Summerside Minor Hockey, Summerside Figure Skating Club, PEI Sports Hall of Fame, several bowling leagues and the headquarters for the City of Summerside Department of Community Services.
